The picturesque town of Kenmare is 3 miles away and offers all the attractions of a lively traditional Irish town. Irish music and ballads are played most nights in the bars and restaurants scattered throughout the town. Birchwood is an Irish family owned and operated B&B. Opened in 1991 Mary and Tom Mac Donnell have established a reputation as caring hosts offering excellent accommodation and food at reasonable rates. Birchwood is set on 1.5 acres of gardens in a tranquil rural location just outside the village of Kilgarvan with a south facing aspect overlooking a Birch Tree Forest and wonderful natural scenery. It is both Irish Tourist Board registered and carries 4 star rating from the AA. A purpose built guesthouse, Abbey Court is located on over two acres of landscaped gardens on the Wild Atlantic Way, Ring of Kerry and metres from the sea shore. We are a family run Bed and Breakfast, The Ford. Nestled amongst the Caha Mountains, overlooking the Sheen River and six miles from the well-known heritage town of Kenmare noted for its Award Winning Restaurants, Galleries and Craft shops. The Ford Bed and Breakfast is located on the Beara Way, making it a prime location for keen walkers. Also being ideally situated for touring the unspoiled Beara Peninsula, and the famous Ring of Kerry. Molly Gallivan's Cottage and Traditional Farm is only a five-minute drive away. World famous Garnish Island Gardens in the idyllic village of Glengarriff are only a twenty-minute drive away. The newly opened Bonane Heritage Park is five minutes walk from us. This park contains many ancient sites of archaeological interest, ring forts, stone circles, a famine ruin and standing Stones. It shows that our parish of Bonane was inhabited 6000 years ago. Guided walks can be arranged around the park.
